SMARTEPIL laser (produced by the american Cynosure/Deka Mela company) is a combination of two highly effective lasers – a laser for blood-vessel treatment and a laser for excessive hair coating treatment. It is an Nd/YAG type laser, working in a wawe height of 1064 nm.
The main principle of this laser is constituted by catching of the laser ray in the adequate wave height of the tissue (a blood or hair pigment) and destroying of this structure (a blood-vessel or a hair) by means of heat ( a so-called selective photothermolysis), without affecting the skin itself. This type of laser allows to resolve problems that were formerly possible to cure by surgical means (cut-off, electric co-agulation) only and therefore caused necessarily a lesion of the skin surface.
How does the treatment go off? After a local chilling of the skin (in order to desensitize it), the affected body part gets gradually treated with laser rays, after the treatment the skin is chilled again. The treatment itself takes several seconds, a total treatment length depends on surface of the affected area. In case of excessive hair coating treatment, the laser cure has to be performed repeatedly, which depends on placement of the disease on the body, because different areas require different times to change the hair growth phases (changes of those phases are the quickest on upper lip), moreover, the percentage of hairs in the growth phase (in this phase, their pigmentation, the main objective of the laser treatment, is fully developped) can differ according to different areas on the body (on upper lip, about 80 % of hairs is sensible to the laser treatment in this phase). For a treatment of dilated veins, a single laser cure can be sufficient if veins in the face are cured. If the veins are on limbs, the cure has to be performed repeatedly. It depends on a length of the cured vein.
After the treatment, the patient applies a cream prescribed by the dermatologist on the treated area. The dermatologist decides when the treatment shall be repeated, which depends on the concerned skin disorder (usually, undesirable hairs are re-treated a month later, vein problems are re-treated several weeks later).
SMARTOFFICE operating laser (produced by the american Cynosure/Deka Mela company) is a highly effective CO2 laser used for even evaporation of skin surface and consequently for cure for superficial skin changes (e. g. wrinkles, scars, striae), tattoo removal, or for treatment of certain benign skin tumours and protuberances (viral verrucae, verrucae seniles, etc.).
How does the treatment go off? It is an ambulatory medical help. After a local disensitization by anaesthetic injection or application of anaesthetic cream (the cream has to be applied 45 minutes before the laser treatment), the afected area evaporates in several minutes or seconds, a sterile bandage is put on the area and the patients continues by treating it with external applications prescribed by the dermathologist. Certain treatments (e. g. cure for wrinkles on upper lip) have to be complemented by antivirals or antibacterials. Once the treated area is healed, a long-time photoprotection has to be observed, i. e. the patient has to avoid any exposure to sunlight and protect himself from solar radiation by using suntan creams with a high (at least 30) UV-factor.
The effect of the laser treatment depends on a type of treatment – the anti-wrinkle and anti-scar effect lasts usually several years, benign tumours can be removed for life.
